Happy Holidays MOMS!
'Tis the season for merry wishes and happy homes, right? If you're anything like me, that's just not the case. The stress of the holiday season - money, shopping, guests, parties, and don't forget TWO WEEKS of no school - well, it gets to me every year. I always go into the season with the best intentions, telling myself I will bake cookies and make gingerbread men with my children, I will wake them up one night just to drive around and drink cocoa and in the warm car while looking at lights, I will keep my house clean and nice for unexpected visitors and get-togethers, I will make a budget and stick to it - while still finding the "perfect" gift for everyone on our ever-expanding list... all the things that in my imagination make for the perfect December. And every year I dissapoint myself and fail to live up to all those wonderful ideas. Instead, I stress out, I spend too much money and then feel guilty about it, my house is always a disaster, and I send the kids to play while I make all the cookies because I don't have the time it would take to let them "help".
So, this year I have decided to give up on all my expectations and just try to enjoy the season. If the house is a mess, so be it. If I don't find the perfect gift, thats ok! The most important part of this season is to share it with my kids, so that's my plan to get through it this year - I am going to live this month as if my only job is to mkae great memories for my kids. If I try to let go of all the unnecessary stress and commitments, then I will have all the time and patience to make those gingerbread men and to take them out to look at lights. And really - that's what's important, right? Right.
Thank goodness for MOMS Club - the next two months have some of the best activities of the year! I hope to see you all soon! Happy Holidays!
